For the 2nd session of Kindergardeners batch 8 on July 6th, 2024, the children at Organo Et School’s Children’s Farm campus visited to make Jeevamrutham, fill the gaps, plant saplings, and observe the crops grown while understanding the natural farming practices followed at our farm.

Introduction

Upon arriving at the farm, the children settled down in a shaded area. Mrs. Sreedevi and Ms. Sandya reviewed the concept of natural farming with them, discussing the harmful effects of chemical farming on the environment and human health.

Mason Jar Test

The young farmers experimented Mason jar soil test at our farm.

Students Maintaining Farm Log Book:

Under the guidance of Sandhya Reddi, students recorded various insects on the farm and different water sources. The children also shared their recipes from the previous week’s harvest.

Weeding and Gap Filling

Later, they weeded their patches and resowed seeds to fill up any gaps.

Planting Saplings:

The children planted saplings of tomato, chili, and brinjal, further enriching their hands-on learning experience and understanding of sustainable farming practices.

Hands-on Experience of Creating Jeevamrutham:

The children learned how to make Jeevamrutham. Ms. Sreedevi demonstrated the process, showing them how to mix the five natural ingredients: jaggery, besan, soil, cow dung, and cow urine. The little ones enthusiastically mixed the ingredients themselves and prepared the bio-fertiliser.

Harvesting Spinach and Coriander:

The children, along with their parents, harvested spinach and coriander, enjoying the fruits of their labor.

After completing the session, Mrs. Sreedevi recapped the Jeevamrutham session, ensuring all the children remembered the ingredients and the process of making Jeevamrutham. This brought an end to the session, and the children left for their homes with smiles, eagerly looking forward to the next weekend.
This program not only helps students learn about sustainability but also instills a sense of responsibility and connection to the environment.
