Our objective at Organo Et School is to understand the importance of sustainable practices in farming and identify and implement sustainable practices on a small scale to children of all ages. We at OES introduce the concept of sustainability in farming at a very young age. The children learn about Water conservation, soil health and conservation, crops and biodiversity, and waste management and recycling.

Children’s Activities:

  • Discuss what sustainability means in the context of farming
  • Show videos or pictures of sustainable farming practices.
  • Brainstorm and list common practices that contribute to sustainability.
  • Discuss the water cycle and the role of water in agriculture.
  • Introduce drip irrigation as a sustainable water-saving method.
  • We encourage students to design and create a model of a sustainable irrigation system
  • Layers of Soil experiment.
  • Discuss the impact of soil erosion and depletion.
  • Making Jeevamrutham(natural fertilizer)
  • Introduce composting and vermicomposting for soil enrichment.
  • Hands-on activity: Students create Jeevamrutham and small compost bins using kitchen waste.
  • Learn about the benefits of crop rotation and maintaining biodiversity.
  • Discuss the impact of monoculture on soil health and pest management.
  • Introduce the concept of crop rotation.
  • Students plan a small-scale crop rotation model for a farm using their small farm patches.
  • We discuss the environmental impact of agricultural waste.
  • Introduce the concept of recycling agricultural materials.
  • We encourage students to create recycled planters using old containers or coconut shells.

We encourage each student or group to present a display showcasing a sustainable farming practice. We also invite parents and other classes to visit the farm sustainability, and reflect on the overall experience and discuss the importance of sustainable practices.

Finally we evaluate understanding through presentations, active participation, and reflections. Assess the creativity and practicality of students' hands-on projects.
