Organo@corporates on 16 Sept 2022, organised a Sustainability through Design thinking, 1 day workshop at Beehyv Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd. For the entire Team at Beehyv, it was a pleasant change from their routine programming assignments and deadlines.
We began with the participants entering into an ice breaker group activity. This activity set the stage by a thought provoking question of moving to Mars or making our Earth more green and liveable by 2050. OES team led by Ms. Meena Murugappan, began with a presentation “Sustainability & Urban Systems” giving and peek into Hyderabad’s growth and destruction of its green environment. The audience did a group activity of designing a sustainable city of future. This received a very interactive response and at the same time, very interesting as well as practical ideas came to the table.
As the 70 + audience comprising of young IIT grads from all over the country settled in, a quiz for getting some grey cells activated, based on SDGs by UN. This quiz brought in many thoughts to them and forced them to bring their attention a bit more in this space.
The quiz had questions ranging from, How much water is needed to make a cotton T-shirt? to What could happen if we do not change our consumption patterns by 2050?
The response to the quiz was 100% and very enthusiastic. The purpose of the quiz being bringing the problem at hand to the forefront and in the face of reality. This definitely was achieved with all the participants giving response to all the 30 questions, to the best of their ability.
Organo Et School set the forum for another interesting group activity with a presentation on “Design thinking and the tools for it”. This presentation led to another very intriguing group activity of “Organising a Zero waste event” using design thinking tools, amongst your team.
We concluded with a very firm assurance from this young, enthusiastic audience of software professional of making more aware, informed and healthy lifestyle choices. This will hopefully lead them to more a sustainable future.
