I am Saachi Deora, a 10th grade student studying in CHIREC International School, Hyderabad. I did my internship with Organo Et School(OES), an educational initiative by Organo Eco Habitats.

Research Papers

As someone who’s very keen on writing, I was given tasks to compile papers on sewage treatment and cooling systems. I also had the chance to visit a STP plant at Organo Antharam. This experience helped me gain more knowledge about the mentioned topics, and exposed me to the world of research. I learnt how to draft a complete research paper, from filtering information online, to properly citing sources.

Sapthapatha

I was also instructed to make a reel on the seven strands of sustainability, or the “Sapthapatha”. For this task, I went to Organo Anthram to document the site. The site was partially under construction – and this hands-on experience taught me how new projects are done in a systematic and organized manner.

The site had large areas of land dedicated to farming and cultivation, done using organic methods and fertilizers.

I also saw that the area was full of greenery – it was a bright change from the city life that most of us are used to. The bio pools and indoor badminton court provided great entertainment facilities. I also saw many creative cooling systems, such as VRV system and passive cooling systems.

There were also many water conservation and purification systems, dedicated to ensure water sustainability.

My Takeaway

This internship helped me realize the importance of pushing myself out of my comfort zone, and exploring new areas. It helped me enhance my communication skills and understand the importance of a slow and steady pace of development. Prior to this experience, I was aware about the concept of sustainability, but never truly realized its importance. I also understood the real effect of awareness, and how it can impact future generations, in whose hands the Earth lies. I am excited to learn more on this topic and make a difference in my community too.
