OES is proud to associate with the earth strand of Sapthapadha this time, through a Clay rendition workshop.

“Pottery Without Wheel-a clay workshop”

It is on Sunday the 15 May 2022 and open to children and adults (Age 6 years & above).

As we all know working with soil and clay is one of man’s basic instincts. Bringing you close to nature by invoking the earth strand is OES’s small initiative to help you touch and feel the clay.

Our ability to make an impact — to transform something — is unmistakable while working with clay. Creating with clay is a physical-sensual-mental experience. They say working with clay is therapeutic. Clay is tangible, changeable, under our control in a world that often feels out of our control. Yet clay can also serve as a metaphor for our less conscious feelings and inner worlds. When we can let ourselves go, much like speaking freely in therapy, we make space for our fantasies and pain to transform them into meaningful expression.

Manpreeth Singh Nishter, a renowned ceramic artist, is joining us to conduct this clay workshop. He fulfilled his passion and vision to become a full-time ceramic artist. For 10 years, Nishter kept travelling to Delhi to work at a studio. He gradually learnt the different techniques of firing and figured out what suits his method of work. Having quit his lucrative corporate job to set up a vegan, zero-waste, sustainable studio at Hyderabad. He has done experiential workshops before with OES, on clay with children while helping them understand more about soil and clay. Now, OES brings clay workshop on earth strand, for adults, this time. During this experiential workshop, each participant will be given a worktable area (2”X2”) to follow the expert while working with clay individually. You will work with clay using rolling pins, pin needles, leaves and stones to create designs and textures on the clay. At the end of the workshop, you will take the clay works back to your homes to air dry them.
