On the first day of the Kinder Gardeners Program, 19 children embarked on their journey to learn about natural farming. It was a lovely winter day, perfect for experiencing farming.

We began the session by introducing our team members and explaining the purpose of Organo Et School. Following this brief introduction, our Deputy General Manager, Ms. Sandya Reddy, conducted an Ice Breaker Session with the children.

Children were instructed to sit quietly and connect with their surroundings using all their senses. Both children and their parents participated in this session, experiencing the sounds of nature, the cool breeze on their skin, and a sense of calm. Afterward, each child shared their name along with their favorite vegetable and fruit, setting the stage for an engaging session on natural farming.

Mrs. Sreedevi Ande, a seasoned Urban Gardener and Farming coach for children, initiated the farming session by guiding the children to a demonstration patch. She showed them how to prepare and loosen the soil for sowing Spinach and Coriander seeds. The children were instructed to divide their patches into two halves, one for sowing Coriander seeds and the other for Spinach.

After this brief demonstration, all the children prepared their patches for seed sowing, removing pebbles, soil mounds, and other debris. They then sowed the seeds of Coriander and Spinach using the broadcasting method as demonstrated by their coach, Mrs. Sreedevi Ande.

They covered the sown seeds with soil and gently watered them. Following this, they went on to harvest the Palak and Coriander, which had been prepared for them in advance. Under the guidance of their farming coach, they cut the Palak slightly above the roots and uprooted the Coriander.

The children thoroughly enjoyed these activities. We extend our gratitude to all the parents who have committed to embarking on a one-month journey with their children to learn how to cultivate safe food.
