It had been 10 weeks since our young farmers started their journey of learning natural farming. It started on 29th January 2023 and completed on 9th April 2023.
In this ten week's program on natural farming, they experientially learned how to prepare the soil, sow seeds, weeding, watering, thinning, prepare bio-fertilizers and bio-pest repellents, tend to plants, manage money in farming and so many other things like pottery without wheel & art in nature. After all the hard work during this two-month program, they learned to reap the fruits of their hard work by carefully harvesting the vegetables they grew. In the end, they learned to appreciate the efforts that a farmer puts into bringing food onto their plates.
Children came to the farm early morning on their tenth session. They went to see their patches and felt very happy to see their brinjals and tomatoes ready for harvest. Their farm coach Ms. Shilpa Teja, guided the children in identifying brinjals, tomatoes, radishes & beetroots that were matured and ready for harvest. Following the guidelines of their farm coach, all children harvested vegetables at their patches.
After harvesting, all the children assembled at the tent. They were served fresh lemonade by God’s Own Office Cafe Team. After which, the children and their parents had a healthy and tasty breakfast.
There are few newborn puppies at OES farm. When one child took the puppy into her hands and started caressing it, all the remaining children saw it and began to play with the puppies by gently holding them in their hands. It was a lovely sight to watch.
Ms.Garima Goel, program coordinator at OES called all our young farmers to receive their program completion certificates from our director Ms.Meena Muragappan. All the children proudly took their certificates. They all thanked our team for organizing such a wonderful program for them to learn to farm and experience the joy of growing food with their own hands.
It was a great pleasure for all of us to see all these young farmers graduating after two months of hard work and dedication. We wish them all the best for their bright future.
The Be A Farmer program that Organo Et School does is very nice and great. It's a great way to teach children the natural way of growing crops. Not only that, I think it also helped the children understand the kind of effort that goes through the crops that finally come to us and we consume them. So I think that's a great way of teaching the child to live with nature. Also coming in the morning here, though, it's quite a bit of effort, but it's worth the effort. So definitely try and enroll your child for this. - Smriti Mahindra, Parent of Samaira and Advitya
Considering that these days kids are born in the cities, they don't have any access to any farmland, any plantation and stuff like that, and they don't teach that in the schools. I think this program by Organo Et School is really good, especially for them to be disciplined to get up on a Sunday morning, come here to the farm and get an introduction to the whole cycle of crops from the seeding phase till the harvest. It really was fun. And we would probably like to repeat this, so that she gets that discipline. And we look forward to owning our own farm at some point in time so that we can do our bit in a smaller way wherein we can at least cultivate something for ourselves using natural farming techniques. - Kalyan Chakravarthy, Father of iekya
It was a wonderful experience. iekya really had a great time. She was always enthusiastic every Sunday morning, to come to the farm, pick a vegetable, go back home & make something out of it. It's a joyful experience for her, which today's kids don't get usually. - Sindhura Bommareddy, Mother of iekya
It's a very astonishing experience out of the busy life and all the pollution. Nihal is so excited to grow his own vegetables and became very keen on reducing the wastage of food. He is very excited to come every Sunday. We will miss this experience, but hopefully, we will visit again for the next Monsoon batch. - Sreelatha, Mother of Nihal
