On March 5th, 2024, Week 2 of our educational journey, the students of PYP 3 at Shri Ram Academy delved into the fascinating world of butter-making and tasting. This hands-on exploration provided them with a sensory experience like no other, as they learned about the different types of butter and the science behind its creation. The primary goal of this activity was to give students a deeper understanding of the butter-making process, introduce them to various types of butter, and explore the scientific principles behind emulsification and fat separation.

We began by discussing the concept of butter with the children, highlighting its importance in cooking and the different varieties available.

Using a butter churn and cream milk, we demonstrated the process of making butter. The children observed closely as the cream transformed into butter and buttermilk, noting the changes in texture and color.
