On November 19, 2023, the young gardeners, accompanied by their parents, returned to the farm for the third session of their farming journey. Eagerly, they rushed to their designated patches to inspect the progress of their leafy greens. As they gathered under the comforting shade, Ms. Sreedevi Ande, an expert in urban gardening and OES expert, commenced the session with a recap of their previous week's lesson on soil composition.

Weeding

The initial task for the Kindergarteners in their third session was weeding. Ms. Sreedevi Ande, our gardening expert, provided a demonstration of the proper weeding procedure and encouraged the children to manually remove any unwanted plants from their patches. Additionally, she prompted them to identify the two varieties of leafy species they had planted two weeks prior, illustrating the difference between a leaf and a cotyledon.

Jeevamrutham Application

Armed with their buckets of Jeevamrutham, prepared a week in advance, the children started diluting it with water. They gathered at a designated area to observe how Jeevamrutham was applied to the plants.

Accompanied by their parents and under the guidance of the expert and OES team, the children applied Jeevamrutham to their patches, simultaneously removing weeds and ensuring the well-being of their leafy greens. Through this hands-on experience, they grasped the importance of Jeevamrutham and the role of microorganisms in enhancing soil health.

OES Activity Book

Mrs. Sandhya Reddi lent a helping hand to the kids as they filled out pages in the activity book, sharing valuable information on sustainable practices. The group also embarked on a tour around the farm, engaging in a nature scavenger hunt and discovering various objects. As a final activity, they harvested green leafy vegetables from the farm before bidding farewell. With these enriching two-hour activities, the session concluded on a positive note.
